Nigest Haile, Founder & Executive Director of CAWEE received “Women Stop Hunger Award” from Stop Hunger International in Paris, France
Stop Hunger was established by the initiatives of Sodexo employees. Because Sodexo believes that Quality of Life begins when basic needs are met, Sodexo employees in the U.S. decided to create Stop Hunger in 1996.
The Stop Hunger initiative has given great focus in stooping hunger among women and it was following that, the 2018 Stop Hunger Award targeted in awarding women that spearheaded in stopping hunger among women.
In this respect, in the 2018 Stop Hunger Award, five prominent women from four continents (Africa, Europe, North America and Latin America) were awarded, where one of them was Nigest Haile from Ethiopia.
In the presence of 600 people, on March 13, 2018, Stop Hunger recognized five women during the presentation of the “Women Stop Hunger Award”, where the award was accompanied with contributions to finance to boost the organizations and the actions of the awardees.
Because Sodexo believes that Quality of Life begins when basic needs are met, Sodexo employees in the U.S. decided to create Stop Hunger in 1996.
American colleagues in the Boston area found that for some children, not having the school cafeterias opened during summer break also meant not having enough nutritious food. Sodexo’s employees decided to take on the service of free meals in the poorest neighborhoods. Thus was born Stop Hunger.
Today, Stop Hunger is a global network of non-profit organizations working for a hunger-free world. It leverages Sodexo’s ecosystem – employees, clients, consumers, suppliers and shareholders – to conduct actions in the 80 countries in which the company operates.
Rich in emotion, the 2018 edition of Stop Hunger Award brought together 600 donors and partners, volunteers and representatives of local and international associations, who joined their voices for a world without hunger and confirmed their generosity to support those most in need.

In this respect, in the 2018 Stop Hunger Award, five prominent women from four continents (2 from Africa, 1 from Europe, 1 from North America and 1 from Latin America) were awarded, where one of the awardees was from Ethiopia, Nigest Haile.
The five award winners were briefly speaking during the award night on their experience in working on stopping women’s hunger. Nigest underlined her remarks that through the provision of marketable skills to both urban and rural women and connecting them to markets, women are economically empowered thus combatted poverty in generating sustainable income in changing their lives and the lives of their families.
During the “Women Stop Hunger Award”, where 600 people were invited for dinner, on March 13, 2018, Stop Hunger recognized five women where the award night was also an opportunity for the awardees to further introduce their work to potential donors and raise funding so that they continue stopping hunger among women.
