CAWEE Took Part at a Roundtable Discussion with AfCFTA Secretariat Officials

 

 

Roundtable discussion was jointly organized by the Ethiopian Chamber of Commerce & Sectoral Associations & the Ministry of Trade & Regional Integration (MoTRI) with higher officials from the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat, August 30, 2024, at the premises of MoTRI, where CAWEE Team was invited to take part.

The AfCFTA Secretariat Team was led by H.E. Wamkele Keabstswe Mene, Secretary General of the AfCFTA Secretariat. The discussion brought together a diverse group of participants (10 women and 21 men), where questions were raised to the Secretariat Team, issue areas of concern (market access, logistics, harmonization of products, rules of origin, certificates of origin, trade finance, accreditation, baanding African products, Pan-African payment system, etc.) where the Secretary General and his Team responded to the questions raised and provided additional insights and the Secretariat’s planned activities to facilitate intra-African trade.

CAWEE’s contribution was particularly notable, highlighting the organization’s commitment to ensuring that the voices of women entrepreneurs are better heard, requesting the AfCFTA Secretariatto support this cause.
