CAWEE Executive Director Met with the Executive Secretary of the UN ECA
The Executive Director of CAWEE, Mrs. Nigest Haile had productive meeting with H. E. Dr. Vera Songwe, the Executive Secretary of the UN ECA on January 30, 2020 at the office of the Executive Secretary.
The meeting mainly focused on the up-coming second edition Continental Event “Boosting Intra-African Trade: African Women Taking the Lead”, that CAWEE has planned to organize, October 6-8, 2020, where the Executive Secretary of the ECA confirmed the ECA’s continued support to that.
The meeting further discussed on how best CAWEE can partner with the ECA, in empowering women economically, particularly on how best Ethiopian women in business can benefit from the African Women in Leadership Fund, which the ECA will be managing. Building the capacities of women in business in educating them on the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (ACFTA) was also mentioned where the ECA can support on that in informing and educating African women in business on the provisions and benefits of the ACFTA.
