Women in Agriculture Met International Buyers from Canada and Europe

 

 

 

As part of the Women in Trade (WIT) for Inclusive and Sustainable Growth initiative, Trade Facilitation Office (TFO) Canada, in partnership with CAWEE, organized Buyers Mission to Ethiopia, April 8-9, 2024, at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. This Buyers Mission official launch event hosted 5 buyers from Canada and Europe and Ethiopian women in export, 14 companies, involved in the agricultural sector. High-ranking officials from Embassies and various local and international organizations, including Government representatives, were in attendance. This event aimed to connect women involved in the agriculture sector with international buyers.

The Executive Director of CAWEE welcomed invited guests and participants in highlighting CAWEE’s partnership with TFO Canada. Following her welcoming remark, Mr. Olivier Musafiri MBA, WIT Project Manager for Africa, provided an overview of the event and TFO Canada programs. Subsequently, Ms. Dehab Mesfin, representing Dehab Coffee, shared her success story underlining the benefits she got in taking part in TFO’s programs, particularly the International Food and Drink Event (IFE) held in March 2023 in London, UK. Dagmawit A. Abebe from Kedemt Coffee introduced the Ethiopian Women of Coffee Roaster Collectives (EWCRC), established by 11 women-owned coffee companies participating in the Buyers Mission, aiming to enhance buyer engagement through collaboration and unity in the roasted coffee sector.

His Excellency Joshua Tabah, Ambassador of the Canadian Embassy to Ethiopia, provided a closing remark at the launching event, acknowledging the remarkable work the Government of Canada, TFO Canada and CAWEE were able to accomplish.
