Awareness Creation Forum & Press Conference Organized on Women in SMEs Accessing Public Procurement

CAWEE organized an awareness creation forum & press conference on Women in SMEs Accessing Public Procurement on May 6, 2022 at Radisson Blu Hotel, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

 

This event was part of the STITCH (Strengthened Network for Greater Impact) project that CAWEE is implementing with its partners: Oxfam, FEMNET (African Women’s Development & Communications Network) and the EU.Present during the awareness creation forum and the press conference were Goodwill Ambassadors appointed to advocate on Women in SMEs Accessing Public Procurement and media team, both Government and private media that cover news in Amharic as well as in English.

Background information and findings of interviews, focus group discussions and desk research in the implementation of advocacy & campaign on women in SMEs access to public procurement was presented by facilitators.

Following the awareness creation forum was a press conference where the appointed Ambassadors provided briefings on their commitments in supporting CAWEE and the noble cause of facilitating access for women in SMEs to secure public procurement. The appointed Ambassadors came from different areas of involvement, the private sector, CSO, Bank, etc., which included the following:

  • Secretary General of the Addis Ababa Chamber of Commerce & Sectorial Associations;
  • CEO of Enat Bank (the Women’s Commercial Bank of Ethiopia);
  • President of Social Enterprises Ethiopia and
  • Country Director of Oxfam Ethiopia.
